The REP Theatre is home to the premier theater company in northwestern Florida. The company was founded in 2001 and has been entertaining crowds in the 75-seat Meeting Hall Theatre ever since. Professional actors from around the country come to The REP Theatre to hone their craft. With crowds reaching over 25,000 for last year’s totals, apparently they’re doing something right.
Now in its fifteenth season, audiences are treated to unique shows and performances every week. The schedule includes live drama, comedies, musicals and improvs, intimate concerts, children’s productions, and acting/songwriting workshops. The company isn’t afraid to try new programming or new venues.
Escape to Create Series
The ongoing Escape to Create series has allowed local artists to display their talents on-stage. Escape to Create is a “nationally recognized multidisciplinary artist residency hosted by the Seaside community since 1993.”
Artists will stay in Seaside during a two month-long retreat in January and February. The program is open to emerging and established professional artists working in literary, music, visual, theater and performance arts. From musicians to improv comedians, the 30A Florida Repertory Theatre might be the place you spot the next Hollywood star.
Every Christmas Story Ever Told
An upcoming holiday favorite is returning to The REP Theatre for its seventh straight year. “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)” is a unique production that meshes all of your favorite holiday tales and jams into one hilarious performance. USA Today called the show “One of the wackiest, tackiest and happiest holiday events!”
Audience participation in “Every Christmas Story Ever Told” is what holds the show together. Imagine seeing your father acting as Cindy-Lou who from The Grinch! The premise of the show is not just to get you to laugh – but to enjoy time with your family during the holidays.
The show will run intermittently from November 22nd to December 29th, allowing for plenty of chances to get in the Christmas spirit. The script is partially rewritten every year to allow for new jokes, songs, and repeat audiences. Tickets can be bought on The REP’s website.
Don’t miss out on visiting the 30a Florida Repertory Theatre and experiencing this unique theatre while staying in Seaside – or anywhere along 30A for that matter!
